Counselor-in-Training Program

Community Service Program

Counselor-In-Training (CIT) positions are available for students ages 14 to 16 from any school. This is a volunteer program that allows students to fulfill community service requirements. Supervised by Head Counselors, CITs learn how to interact with, care for, and supervise children through hands-on experience. CITs are preferentially assigned to work with campers aged 3-6 years as this age group needs the most assistance.

CITs are expected to:

  • Participate in all assigned activities

  • Commit to and fulfill their session-long commitment

  • Change into swimsuits and enter the pool with their groups.

  • Failure to follow the expectations may cause a CIT to be unable to continue in the program.

Parental consent for program participation is required.  First-time CITs may volunteer for a maximum of two sessions. After their first year of service, CITs may volunteer for up to four sessions.

Roeper Student Community Service Program

Roeper students who are 13 years or older may volunteer as a Counselor-In-Training to complete community service requirements. We are unable to accept non-Roeper students to this program. First-time volunteers are allowed to volunteer a maximum of two sessions and follow the same schedule and routines as CITs. They are held to the same rules and codes of conduct.
