Campers will be provided with the structure and the technical assistance needed to create a short video.  

Campers will get to work on various aspects of film production, including pitching, screenwriting, storyboarding, acting, cinematography, and editing. The student films will be live-action, with runtimes between 3 - 5 minutes. All of the filming will be done onsite at camp with camp-provided iPads. Campers will work on several projects, fulfilling different roles on each project — director, actor, editor, etc. Campers may choose to register for multiple sessions of Film Production Camp and each session will be unique with campers gaining confidence and stronger skills. On the last day of each session, there will be a screening for guests of the participants.

Campers spend the morning participating in Film Production Camp and the afternoon is filled with the same activity choices as Activity Camp.

Blake Pynnonen has taught at Roeper for 6 years. Before his work at Roeper, Blake taught in several other schools, including two schools in South Korea. Blake enjoys weaving film into his class instruction. Blake presented at a conference in Korea about using film in the classroom as another gateway to literacy. Blake brings a robust background in film analysis into his work but also has experience in film production, having worked on a variety of student films as well as a zombie movie.
